ANTI-CLOTTING THERAPY DOS & DON'Ts

You and your doctor are working together to keep your heart healthy. Anti-clotting medications are an important part of your treatment. Your doctor has probably prescribed aspirin, plus a second drug like PLAVIX^® or TICLID^®*. It may seem like a lot, but they work differently. By taking both, you have better protection from blood clots. Please be sure to follow your doctor's orders. That way you have the best chance to avoid problems in the future. Here are some helpful hints about taking medication.

Do take the full dose every day Do take both aspirin and your anti-clotting medication. You need them both Do call your doctor if you notice any new symptoms or side effects Do take your medication for as long as your doctor prescribes it Do sign up here for e-mail reminders

Don't miss a dose of aspirin and PLAVIX® or TICLID®*. Take it as soon as you remember. Don't double the dose the next day to catch up. Don't stop taking any of your anti-clotting medicines unless your doctor tells you to Don't forget to tell your other doctors and dentists about your anti-clotting medications before you have any surgery or start a new drug Don't split pills in half
